A couple of weeks ago I went on a little trip to Poland to help my old mate Rob Adcock with some content creation.
Amongst (many) other things, Rob is currently on a mission to attend every single round of this year’s Champions League, but without visiting any country more than once. You can keep up to date with the series on his TikTok.
It just so happened that I had a week off work during one of the qualifying rounds, and so I was able to pop along for his trip to Częstochowa, via Krakow, to watch Raków take on Qarabağ FK.
I won’t say much more about the trip, because the video itself isn’t out yet; but on the way there I did help Rob out with a bit of content which has made its way into The Daily Star.
To cut a long story short, Wizz Air have introduced a fairly outrageous new luggage rule.
The rule essentially limits the number of people who can buy a ticket for the flight, but without having to pay for hold luggage.
Once a certain number of tickets have been sold, everyone has to pay for a checked in bag, whether they want to or not. And it’s not cheap.
We had to pay an extra £60 for our hold bags, which we obviously weren’t going to use for a 36-hour trip to Poland.
That’s when I suggested to Rob that we play Wizz Air at their own game, by checking entirely spurious things into the hold.
Unfortunately I was prevented from checking in a solitary tube of toothpaste, as apparently you can only check in actual bags. But Rob had much more success with his own 20kgs’ worth of baggage.
